Cookie Jar is built with privacy as a core principle. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not transmit any personal data to external servers. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.
The extension accesses cookie metadata (name, domain, expiry, and flags such as HttpOnly and Secure) from your browser in order to classify and selectively block cookies. Cookie values are never read, stored, or transmitted. The extension does not access your browsing history, form data, passwords, or any other personal information.
All data generated by the extension — including your cookie category preferences, custom rules, per-domain overrides, and the blocked-cookie log used for Statistics — is stored exclusively in your browser using chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to Snickerdoodles or any third party.
Cookies are classified locally using pattern-matching rules and heuristics bundled within the extension. No cookie names, domains, or metadata are sent to any external server for classification or analysis. Classification happens entirely on your device.
The extension does not integrate any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or crash-reporting tools. We do not use your data for advertising purposes and we do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.
The extension requests only the browser permissions necessary to function: access to cookies (to read and block them), access to the active tab's URL (to apply per-domain rules), storage (to save your preferences locally), scripting (to inject consent-banner suppression CSS), and webNavigation (to apply that CSS at the earliest point in page load). No broader permissions are requested or used.
The extension injects a stylesheet that hides cookie consent banners on websites you visit. This is done entirely within your browser — no information about which banners were encountered is collected, stored, or transmitted.
The extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension's functionality or applicable law. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
